Multiple Vision

By Don Bowyer

This work, in four short movements, is for one player who simultaneously plays trombone, piano, and conga drum.

The city of Huntsville, Alabama, is famous for two things:

One theme of these jokes deals with the engineer who has tunnel vision about what he is doing, making him completely oblivious to the non-engineering world.  Certainly, we all know some engineers who fit this stereotype – we may have even worked for some – but we also know engineers who do not have this tunnel vision.  This piece is dedicated to one of the most broad-minded engineers (or people) I have ever met – a true "Renaissance man":  Dr. Jorge Auñón.

The choice of having one player perform on three instruments at once is meant to reflect this ability to focus on more than one issue at a time.
